Make sure you’re ready to make the most out of the NRF Foundation Virtual Career Fair on Feb. 19. Here are five things you can do now to prepare:
1. Make sure you’ve signed up and submitted your resume
Register now to meet with recruiters over chat and video, learning more about companies and exploring available roles.
Have your resume ready when you register. A one-page PDF works best, since added images can make it harder for your information to get uploaded.
2. Find a quiet area where you'll be able to participate
Figure out where you’ll be able to participate without distractions, and then try out your setup ahead of time.
Find a space with good lighting (face the window or other light source) and test the internet connection. If you’re using headphones and a microphone, ensure everything is working. Even if you’re already a pro when it comes to all things virtual, it’s good to check things again.
3. Pick out your professional, polished outfit
Be ready to turn your camera on and present your best self. Just like you would for an in-person interview or career fair, plan to wear a professional, polished outfit from head to toe.
4. Prepare a brief pitch about the value you'd bring to the company
Practice a 30-second introduction about the value you’d bring to an employer.
5. Review the job listings ahead of time
Do your research on the company and available roles so you can be prepared to ask your questions. You can explore the list of full-time roles and internship opportunities on our job listings page.
In addition to our virtual career fair, NRF Foundation All Access features on-demand conversations with retail professionals and online Executive Mentor Experience sessions planned for March. Check out the full schedule and sign up for free today.
