The NRF Foundation recognized its 2021 scholarship participants virtually, so during the 2022 NRF Foundation Honors on April 13 in New York City (presented by American Express and PwC), the recipients were included in the onstage celebrations.
For the 2022 NRF Foundation Next Generation Scholarship –presented by SAS – 2021’s top recipient Amaiya Sims provided the introduction.
“I am always excited to tell students about my experiences, to encourage them to make the most out of these opportunities to prepare them for their next steps,” Sims says. “I am so excited for the finalists because I know how much this competition challenges you to not only apply what you’ve learned in your classes, but to explore beyond what you know.”
Hear more from Sims – including what she has been doing since receiving the award and finishing her undergraduate degree at Columbia College Chicago – in the video below:
The appearance by Sims onstage was followed by the premiere of a video featuring all five finalists – Robert Davison Long (Columbia College Chicago), Sabrina Leibowitz (Drexel University), Sarah May (Indiana University), Marcel Smith (LIM College) and Brooke Williams (Ohio State University) – that can be viewed here.
Undergraduates can submit applications by May 23 for the 2023 NRF Foundation Next Generation Scholarship or create a team for the 2023 NRF Foundation Student Challenge (submissions are due Oct. 9).
